My big question to those who take issue with crossing geographical and political lines is whether my (or your) proposal would do better than we currently are doing? I live in Texas and I am sure you know about our lovely district lines. I can't imagine that a statistical model could cross more boundaries than the gerrymandered districts Texas has produced.
